Brewery: Rockwood Brewing Co., Rockwood, Pennsylvania
Manufacturer/Plant: See comments/description
Date of manufacture: circa 1930s
Canning Code: n/a
Contents/Type: n/a
Condition/Comments: Rare piece and unique (unless the brewery had more than one bottle washer!). Rockwood was only open for one year, lasting from 1933 to 1934 so there is not much available from them. It is quite remarkable that this plate survived as it would likely have been removed by any new owner who purchased the unit upon the brewery closure. It looks as though it may have simply been discarded outdoors or left on the floor of some abandoned warehouse for many years as the iron is heavily pitted, especially around the edges and bolt holes. It appears to have been sandblasted since its current state is quite smooth and no oxidation remains. Manufactured by the Loew Manufacturing Co., Cleveland, a Division of The Liquid Carbonic Corp. of Chicago. 19 w x 13 h. Heavy piece. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
