Reference: LIKE USBC 111-16
Brewery: Pabst Brewing Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Manufacturer/Plant: American Can Co.
Date of manufacture: circa 1939
Canning Code: 68
Contents/Type: 12 oz
Condition/Comments: Very rare and very interesting can.  This likely is one of a handful or fewer of these to known to collectors. This is the ONLY example of this can we have had or seen hit the market in over 25 years! We believe this to be the ONLY complete example with both Mailing Label & Scroll. Around 1938 to 1940, American Can Co put out a challenge called the "$100,000 Keglined Treasure Chest" where a winner could win money for building a display out of American cans. Pabst made a push for folks to enter this contest by making cans like the one offered here with documentation on how to be a winner of the contest. NOTE there is no IRTP statement on the can as these were never filled by Pabst and were issued specifically for this challenge. The cans were mailed with just the label on them. For more info, see the excellent article on the subject featured in the May/June 2021 issue of Beer Cans & Brewery Collectibles by the BCCA. A must have for the die-hard instructional and Pabst collectors. For more info or questions regarding this lot contact Dan via email.
