Old Beer Cans & Breweriana for Sale • Archives for Research • Free Appraisals
Business Name: Haffenreffer & Co., Boston, MassachusettsManufacturer/Plant: See comments/descriptionDate of manufacture: circa 1950sCondition/Comments: Chrome-plated pocket knife has brands engraved and painted in each side and the body doubles as a bottle opener. The blade is made by Paul Henckels of Germany, producer of pocket knives, daggers, sheaths, etc. Not to be confused with the more renowned AJ Henckels blade maker of the same name. Research shows the Paul Henckels business was operating as recently as 2022 as an ad specialty firm but has since closed. This piece was given away or sold to visitors who toured the Haffenreffer brewery and still resides in its original packaging. Its condition appears to be unused and in bright all-original condition. The only notable mark is on the lip of the lower jaw of the opener where there is a tiny touch of oxidation that has marked the surface. Operates perfectly. The box has some foxing and has creases and tears as shown. 3-1/4 l x 7/8 w closed, 5-3/8 l when open. Blade does not lock. Box is 4 l x 1-1/4 w. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
