Condition/Comments: This large commemorative tankard was presented by the Rahr Malting Corporation to Jerold Hoffberger who was the president of the National Brewing Co. from 1946-1973. He was also a part-owner of the Baltimore Orioles MLB team from the period 1954-1979 that included several of their peak and World Championship seasons. The stein is like new with a fired-on illustration and text above the hand-painted recipient name. The traditional saying translates roughly to GOD BLESS HOPS AND MALT! The lid is inscribed with the Rahrs trade mark, founding date of 1847, and tagline MALT OF REPUTATION. Manufactured by Sahm-Merkelbach GmbH, in Hohr-Grenzhausen, West Germany. This truly unique piece likely dates to the 1960s. This lot includes an autographed business card of Mr. Hoffberger, personalized to an Officer Mannez (or Manny?) and is dated 3-2-1969.
