Brewery: Harvard Brewing. Lowell, Massachusetts
Manufacturer/Plant: See comments/description
Date of manufacture: Pre-Prohibition
Canning Code: n/a
Contents/Type: N/A
Condition/Comments: Incredible subject matter on this rare litho. This is one of only two examples of this piece of which we are aware. Features the Harvard brewery building at the bottom with two nude winged angels representing HEALTH ad PURITY. Top portion includes crews rowing while passengers cheer them waiving H flags (perhaps suggesting these are Harvard University crew fans). In the background of this scene is a Harvard billboard. Between the two scenes are bottle of Harvard Amber Ale and Pale Lager Beer. Both scenes are set against an aged stone and brick background and framed in hop leaves. We are not sure if the frame is original to the piece but this brewery is known for using large ornate frames like this so very well may be (frame is touched up and damaged). Litho is on a very heavy stock. There are ripples, about a 12 inch or so tear toward the bottom, soiling and other imperfections yet it is overall clear and has an antique appeal. Signed bottom right corner H. Herschauer and dated 1901. Litho is about 22 x 32, about 32 x 41 inches framed. Litho is all original.
