Old Beer Cans & Breweriana for Sale • Archives for Research • Free Appraisals
Business Name: Fort Pitt Brewing Co., Pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaManufacturer/Plant: UnknownDate of manufacture: circa 1940sCondition/Comments: Unique conceptual presentation piece for the Fort Pitt EVERYBODY LIKES A WINNER sports advertising campaign. This comp features doubles tennis. We have featured related signs from this series in past auctions that depict bowling and football and believe this tennis concept (along with a similar hockey design) never made it to production. The entire sign is drawn fairly loosely in graphite pencil and cut by hand. It sits on two layers, designed to be folded out to create a deep shadowbox effect with the player at the net and beer in the foreground and his partner and crowd in the background. Excellent condition with light smudging of the graphite. Frame has a nick at top left edge and is missing the lower right corner. 14-1/2 w x 10-1/2 h. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
