Business Name: Fort Pitt Brewing Co., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Manufacturer/Plant: Unknown
Date of manufacture: circa 1950s
Condition/Comments: Rare. Very cool concept employs two separate printed panes of glass to create a deep 3-D effect. One pane contains just the text Something Special, and floats in front of the second that contains a photographic image printed on one side and a white background on the other (likely to diffuse light evenly). The glass itself has very fine vertical striations in it that are not visible in the photos and can only be seen on VERY close inspection. Combined, these features add incredible depth to the image. We do not know if this is a conceptual sample or proof-of-concept or part of a complete production sign without the lighting element. Perhaps it was meant to be framed and hung with sunlight behind it. Each pane is 14 w x 11 h. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
