Chromolithography on paper Lithographer: Unknown
Date of manufacture: Circa 1900
Image dimensions: 16.5”w x 25”h Overall dimensions including frame: 22.5”w x 31.5”h
The subject matter of this lithograph is rich and festive. A Victorian table scene in the foreground is set against a scene reminiscent of the Chicago 1893 World’s Fair. Diogenes, the philosopher, is subtly inset toward the bottom center, enjoying a brew. The “Diogenes” letters are designed like that of show lighting on a background of fireworks.
Formerly of the renowned Will Anderson Collection.
Condition is excellent with some minor edge wear, most notably about a ½” of loss at the right edge between the center and top. There is a small crease at the top right corner. Remnants of the original calendar pad remain on the litho and there is about ½” of loss where it was removed. Colors are like new and unfaded. All original lithograph in newer frame/mat.
