Condition/Comments: Very rare stoneware Jug nicely decorated with blue including the following stenciling: Denny Bros. Importers of foreign wines and liquor. 5th. St. near depot and foot of Market St. McKeesport, PA. Appears to have been dinged before it was fired, resulting in the partially collapsed front. Also was likely in contact with another piece in the kiln from which it had to later be separated, resulting in the glaze flaws on the reverse. These are original to the jug making them original items of interest more than imperfections. The bottom of the handle is cracked but it does not appear top have separated from the piece. 7-inch diameter x 11-1/4 h. Likely a 1 gallon jug. Circa 1870s.
