Old Beer Cans & Breweriana for Sale • Archives for Research • Free Appraisals
Business Name: Dawson & Son, New Bedford, MassachusettsManufacturer/Plant: UnknownDate of manufacture: Pre-ProhibitionCondition/Comments: Early Dawsons piece in great shape! Simulates an oil painting, having been printed and pressed to a canvas texture. Blob top bottles indicate this is likely a very early piece for Dawson perhaps around 1900. The litho is in amazing condition, with perfect color and no notable staining, tears, foxing, creases, or other blemishes common to lithos of this vintage. The mat is slightly toned and foxed but that is just a quibble. Note that the figure on the left is the same man portrayed on Boston-based Roessle Brewery advertising from this period. A distinctly different scene but undoubtedly the same model used by the same illustrator and rendered in an identical style! Incredible paper label blob top bottles are shown. 24 w x 18-1/2 h.
