Business Name: F. W. Cook Co., Evansville, Indiana
Manufacturer/Plant: See comments/description
Date of manufacture: circa 1930s
Condition/Comments: Large sign measures 22 w x 28 h. Leaves the impression that it is even larger due to the scale of the portrait and the vast amount of black background. The piece is illustrated by Irene Patten, a prolific illustrator of the 1920s and 1930s. Scant information is available regarding her life, but she allegedly passed away in 1939, so this may have been one of her final works with a brewery copyright of 1938. The piece is incredibly vivid with warm tomes and bright magenta. The soft, flowing skirt and curve of the hat are offset by the sharp clear eyes and reflective hard glass bottle of Cooks. Condition is very good as shown, with small marks, scratches, nicks, and some minor oxidation. The bottom edge has creases and dings. Manufactured by American Art Works, Coshocton, Ohio. Displays very well and is a very impressive piece. All items are original unless otherwise noted. For questions, feedback, or to sell a similar item contact Dan via email.
