Old Beer Cans & Breweriana for Sale • Archives for Research • Free Appraisals
Business Name: Bass & Co., Burton-on-Trent, England, Non-U.S. (see comments/description)Manufacturer/Plant: UnknownDate of manufacture: Pre-ProhibitionCondition/Comments: Brewed in 1902 by King Edward VII. The king started the mash during a visit to the brewery in 1902. There the beer was stored and remained unreleased until a small issue in 1905. It was released on a larger scale in 1911 in honor of the coronation of George V. More was released in 1929. This bottle is from yet a larger fourth release in 1977 that honored the brewery 200th anniversary marked by the label at the bottom front. Most bottles for this issue were original but were refilled, recorked, and resealed with black wax, whereas original bottles used red wax. Thus, this combination was created in 1977 from original components and contents, with newly added wax and lower label. Condition is clearly shown in the photos and the bottle remains full. About 11-1/2 h. NOTE: Full bottles will be emptied unless arrangements are made in advance to pick up/deliver. All items are original unless otherwise noted.
