Brewery: Bachmann Brewing Co., Staten Island, NYManufacturer: Standard Advertising Co.Date of manufacture: Circa 1890sDimensions: 16-1/2” w x 13-1/2” hComments: This tray commemmorates the New York brewer’s crowning achievement at the 1876 Philadelphia Expo (the first official World’s Fair) and dates to between 1882 (when the brewery was renamed from the Mayer Bachmann brewery) and 1900 (the last year of operation for Standard Adv. Co.). A surprisingly small amount of breweriana has survived from what was, at the time, the largest of Staten Island’s breweries. This is one of their finest and most graphic pieces and the subject matter of a bustling factory complex and busy railroads, along with the Expo proclamation, and rarity, make it desirable on so many levels.
